Who we are

Talent is everywhere in Zambia. What has been missing is a place that turns curiosity into capability, quickly and honestly.

NATEC opened its doors in 2023 with one clear purpose, to give people practical, result oriented tech skills. We run conferences, masterclasses, short trainings, and a student podcast, and we are building a product of our own.

01

Result oriented

Every program ends in something you can show, a project, a skill, a certificate.

02

Learn by building

We teach by doing. If you cannot use it on Monday morning, we have not finished teaching it.

03

Rooted in Zambia

We teach with Zambian examples, for Zambian realities, building talent that stays.

04

A real community

From students to founders, NATEC is where people meet, learn, hire, and build together.

Skills that ship

NATEC opened in Lusaka in 2023 with one promise, practical skills you can use straight away. The programmes run from flagship developer conferences to short evening classes, and every one ends in a project a learner can show an employer. Learn by doing is not a slogan here, it is the whole method. Pick a real goal, build toward it, and finish with something you can point to. That is why so many alumni now work across the city, and why employers keep coming back.

The city

Building in Lusaka

Across the city a new generation of developers, designers and founders is learning by building. At Devcon, teams gather to work in squads and ship a real product before the closing bell. The energy is loud, hands on and unmistakably Zambian. What starts as a weekend of building often turns into a partnership, a hire, or a company. Cybercon brings the same intensity to security, with a live capture the flag arena that runs late into the night and sends students home sharper.

The mission

Curiosity into skill

Talent is everywhere in Zambia. What has been missing is a place that turns curiosity into capability, quickly and honestly. NATEC exists to close that gap. It gives people work they can show, habits they can keep, and a community they can grow with, wherever they are starting from. The promise is kept in the work itself, not in the brochure. Learners are judged by what they can build, not by what they can recite from memory.

Training

From class to code

Short trainings take complete beginners from their first line of code to a working website in a few weeks, on a schedule that fits around work, school and family. The classes are small on purpose, so every learner gets real attention. Many graduates step straight into their first roles across the city. Evenings and weekends keep the door open for people already in work, so no one has to choose between a job and a new skill.

Community

A hub, not a school

NATEC, the Naval Technology Center, is a working studio as much as a training centre. Students, professionals and founders meet here to learn, to hire and to build the tools the region needs next. The doors stay open and the talks run long, because the best ideas rarely arrive on schedule. Bespoke projects, talks and masterclasses all feed the same mission, a stronger and more connected local industry that keeps its talent at home.

Editorial

Imagine beyond

The tagline is a challenge. Nested, the student podcast, turns hard ideas into clear stories you can follow anywhere. Cybercon sharpens the defenders of tomorrow. Masterclasses go deep on a single skill with a practitioner who does the work. Across all of it the goal is the same, to help people imagine beyond what they thought was possible, and then to hand them the tools to build it.

DEVCON: TEAM EDITION

Devcon: Team Edition is an in-person event where students learn what school rarely teaches: how to build as a team. You'll join a group, take on a challenge, and have a set amount of time to design and create a working project together.
